All I can do is laugh, but even that hurts
I found out this morning that I sprained my back. hahahahahaha. Oh my gosh that kind of hurt. And apparently this is more serious than it sounds and feels. Yesterday morning I was watering some grass I planted and was pulling the hose to the back and kind of twisted weird. It didn't really bother me at the time, but as the day went on, it got worse. By the end of the day I could barely stand. I biked to work yesterday and thank goodness that didn't bother it. I got home, showered and iced my back. It got a lot better, but this morning it still bothers me to walk and sit at work. I went to the chiropractor thinking I just needed to be adjusted, but nope. Darn, I was hoping for a quick fix. He told me to not do anything for a couple days because I could end up tearing the ligament and really f*cking it up. So no running, lifting, but I can walk. YEAH. Guess I better practice walking fast since that will be what I will be doing a lot of this year. I think I am still going to try to go to the pool tonight just because I haven't been there in a week and then come home and see how it feels to sit on the trainer. I also had him look at my thumb because that is not even close to being better. He actually said that my thumb was the most severe injury I have right now. I laughed and said that is good since I don't really need it anyway to race. He also did some work on my shoulder and stretched it. He said bruising will be normal. Hahahaha. I will have to take a week off to just recover from the deep tissue work, lol. My shoulder really wasn't sore where he pushed, it was more in my bicep and pectoralis major. So now I am starting to really stress out about this whole running thing. If I have to take another week off to heal my back, that only leaves me with 4 weeks of running before my first race. I am not even to running for 25 min straight yet. Ugh. I managed to sell my old wetsuit last night. I was sad to see it go, but glad to see it go to a good friend. I got on the Internet and purchased my new one. Same suit, just the new women's version and a much smaller size. Hoping that the cut on this one will not have such a long torso and cut in a more at the waist. I also got my box of gels last night. I love it when I forget I bought something and then you come home and there is a package waiting for you on the stairs. It is like Christmas. Tonight I am going to sit down and make a list of all the things I need to do before my first race. I am also going to have to sit down and figure out my running schedule again. My 5 hour bike ride this weekend might not happen either. My lower back, same area on the right gets wore out and I am sure that is why I am injured where I am is because that muscle was weak. I also got a few exercises to work on my back and core. I just get to sit on a physio ball and bounce. That sounds fun and I can do it before my back gets better. This is why I am not going to a regular doctor from now on when I get injured. They just tell me to ice it and come back later. Even the little bit of work my chiro did on my thumb has made it so much better and I have exercises for that too. I am so sick of being injured. If I didn't have 3 races coming up next month, I would take 3 weeks off completely. Well I guess now if something kind of bothers me, I will have to be extra careful with it because it is telling me it is weak and it needs to rest. So until next time, I will keep on laughing because that is what will get me through!
